Napa Valley is located an hour north of San Francisco and considered California’s most widely recognized wine region. This ‘land of plenty’ has been producing grapes since the mid nineteenth century and premium wine since the 1960’s. Thirty miles long by five miles wide, the Napa Valley AVA (American Viticulture Area) is subdivided into fifteen smaller sub-appellations expressing varying degrees of microclimate, geology and geography. Napa Valley is primarily known for world class Cabernet Sauvignon but you can find approximately 36 unique grape varietals growing throughout.
